Natural Born Fighter - Indigenous Small Business Start Up Tools

This resource has been designed to assist Indigenous people establish and manage a small business.  The resource is divided into five sections and contains a documentary, 3D animation and interactive literacy, language and numeracy activities.
The resource contains:

  • A documentary that introduces and follows an Indigenous man (Brian) as he establishes his boxing/fitness business, Natural Born Fighters
  • 3D animation of Brian and his Indigenous mentor (Elva) yarning about the specific personal, family and cultural issues Indigenous people face when starting a small business
  • Interactive literacy, language and numeracy activities that support the building of the knowledge and skills Indigenous people need to establish a small business

Money Business for Boards is an interactive learning resource for BSBGOV403A Analyse financial reports and budgets.


This WELL National resource assists Board Members to analyse financial reports and budgets.  Using animation, voice and interactive activities students’ progress through activities that assist to review, analyse and finalise budgets.

onTrack

This resource has been designed to assist Indigenous menotrs develop skills to assist with delivery of literacy and numeracy learning in a culturally appropriate way.

The film component of the resource, situated in an Indigenous community context, highlights the holistic relationship between family, community, mentor and mentees in delivery of effective learning.

The Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and TAELLN401A Address language literacy and numeracy issues within learning and assessment practice from TAE10, have been used to frame the content of the resource. The resource in DVD format engages mentors in learning how to:

Develop as effective mentors

Identify mentee's literacy and numeracy levels

Develop effective LLN learning strategies

Thinkin Wrong Way Thinkin Right Way

This resource has been customised to assist teachers assess the learning needs of community people whose first language is not Standard Australian English. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote Australia may speak English as a second, third or even fourth language.

The sample assessment tool collects information of the skill levels and learning needs of people from pre-level one to level three on the Australian Core Skills Framework.

The resource is made up of:

a) an example language, literacy and numeracy assessment tool

b) a cultural and assessment induction booklet

c) a DVD that follows a teacher's first visit to a remote community, and outlines the experiences they might encounter.
